Fashionable clothes make a statement! Photos pop when people dress with that in mind. When posing for the camera…Dress To Impress! Remember pictures leave a lasting impression. A tip to remember when searching for that perfect wardrobe for yourself, your spouse, significant other, children or members of your family.

Please come to your photo session with Leah Jean Photography “Dressed To Impress.” What does that mean…you might ask? Allow me to tell you. Don’t be afraid to wear a splash of color and add some layers. Wear clothing that reflects your personality and that of your family. Pick clothing for yourself and family that reflect skin, hair and eye color. For example: if you have warm skin tones (yellow undertones, olive, or dark skin), brunette, auburn or black hair and dark, brown or hazel colored eyes with specks of gold choose a warm color pallet (winter or Fall). Pick colors that blend well together, look at a color wheel. Wear clothing that fits properly and matches your body type. Avoid wearing white shirts and blue jeans, this seems to be a favorite…but in truth, although it works, it is not the best or most flattering choice. Wear clothing that tells me something about who you are! Shun away from bold prints, checks, stripes, plaids and extremely bright colors–they can be confusing and overwhelming; however, if used in moderation (tie, hat, scarf, jewelry or small accessory) with solid layers they can add a bit of fun and excitement. If this is a couple or group shot apply the same rules, however pick one universal color and choose simple garments within the same tonal range, come color coordinated not dressed as twins (unless you are twins). If you have chosen to have your photos taken outdoors choose solid color clothing in medium shades as they tend to work best.

Here are some great fashion trend ideas from JCrew, The Gap, American Eagle and Target. Fashion does not have to be expensive to look great. I have a friend who shops thrift stores and she is a fashion designer! Be select, choose carefully…and have fun!
